I discovered this photo in a box of family photos. My Mom had mentioned his name several times, but I never knew much about him, except that he was a family friend.
Enjoy!

Hi
I talked with my Dad on the phone a few minutes ago and he gave me some info concerning Walter Tetley. First of all, the photo, that I sent you on November 8th, was taken in 1934, which made him 19 years old at the time.
Mr Tetley became a friend of the family through a friendship with my mother’s brother, Angus. (My Uncle Angus, a confirmed bachelor, passed away eleven years ago). Mr Tetley and Angus met aboard a ship heading home (to NY) following WW II. To the best of my knowledge, the two of them remained friends for several years.
I wish I could tell you more, but my mother is the last surviving sibling and she is unable to communicate due to a stroke.
If I come across another photo, I will gladly email it to you.
Until then, best wishes
Suzanne L
Well what I do know, from W.T.’s death certificate, is that his mother was born in Scotland. So that might explain the trip to Europe.

Both of my mother’s parents were born and raised in Scotland, my grandmother > from Isle of Skye. Was Mr Tetley also a “confirmed bachelor” like my Uncle > Angus?

Hi Suzanne
Yes; he was a bachelor. I believe that he was probably like most single men; apparently he dated. I have an excerpt, from the Great Gildersleeve, when they temporarily lost power, and Gildersleeve (Hal Peary) and W.T. were bantering back and forth, trying to entertain the audience (someone apparently recorded their conversation). He mentions his girlfriend during this conversation.
