I came on your webpage by accident. I really enjoy it. I too, am a huge fan of Jay ward & Bill Scott’s cartoons. I was a little kid when I stumbled upon Rocky, Bullwinkle, Boris, Dudley, etc. In fact, I had a friend that looked, and acted just like Sherman. Everybody called him Sherman. Forty years later we are still pals and he is still Sherman. We moved away from home and ended up in another city. We go out and have beers occasionly and people look at him and call him Sherman -a fifty year old Sherman.
Last year I got out to L. A. and went to Jay Ward productions on Sunset Blvd. The Bullwinkle statue is still there and needs some repair. I went to the Jay Ward Studio and Dudley Do Right emporium but they were closed. The sign on the door said they were open a couple days a week and I was there on a wrong day. I did have my picture taken next to a giant picture of Sherman on the outside of the building. Now days I enjoy the Simpsons -Homer J. and Spongebob Squarepants. I think Patrick is a direct descendant of Bullwinkle.
Keep up the good work

Hi Jeff:
I don’t believe that I had replied to you yet. I was in Spain and Italy between 12/30 to 1/22. I read your email, while I was over there, but did not have a lot of time to respond.
I guess the difference between your 50-year-old “Sherman” friend and Walter Tetley is that his voice changed, and Walter’s never did (or if his voice actually did change, he was still capable of talking like a young boy, right up til the end).
I am amazed that the Jay Ward studio is still there, since it was closed down back in 1984. What is it now? More like a museum? Of course, I am familiar with that Dudley Do-Right Emporium.
Thanks again for your email. I wish that I could find copies of the original Rocky & His Friends Show on video. I know that there are videos and DVDs with the Bullwinkle Show. Technically, I know that it is the exact same show, but packaged with slightly different music, and different atmosphere at the beginning and end of the show. I thought that the Rocky theme song and introduction was much more charming than the Vegas or Vaudeville style packaging of the Bullwinkle show. I have seen exclusively The Bullwinkle Show on TV (and no longer Rocky & His Friends show) for about 30-35 years now.

The front building is the store facing Sunset Blvd. The studio is still there behind it. It seemed to be operational I believe there are still offices in it run by Jay Ward’s daughter. It was closed the day I was there but there was a note in the window when she was there for office hours.
If I can get some pictures scanned I’ll send you a picture of me in front of the Sherman sign outside the studio and a picture of grown up Sherman. Please keep in touch so I don’t forget.
Jeff
P. S. What do you think of Sponge Bob Squarepants?
Jeff
I’ve only just started watching the Simpsons within the last year or so. On average I would say that I only catch re-runs of the show, once or twice a week. I’m not sure which character Sponge Bob Squarepants is.
Brian
Sponge Bob is on Nickelodeon several times a day. It is very, very funny. Once again, it’s a program aimed for kids but the humor is really for sick adults like me. You have to check out his best friend Patrick the starfish.
Makes Bullwinkle look like a Rhodes Scholar. I am a big fan of the Simpsons but I think Sponge Bob is more similar to Rocky & Bullwinkle humor.
